In 2020, Stanford’s Cantor Arts Center acquired “Untitled (LC.012, Wall of Masks)” by the late legendary Bay Area artist Ruth Asawa. These 233 masks, initially displayed on the exterior of Asawa’s family home in Noe Valley, had never been exhibited anywhere.

The new exhibition allows visitors to see beneath the surface of the painting using interactive digital media. The artist’s sketchbooks, also on view, support Van Kirk’s conclusions about her discoveries. This exhibition is organized by the Cantor Arts Center. After a fortuitous meeting with the financier, philanthropist, and art collector B. Gerald Cantor, Elsen helped Cantor to build up a major collection of Rodin's work.
