Add in crits, and it’s guaranteed even on level 100 super mutants. I use explosives for the big enemies/huge clusters. Still the chainsaw is more useful since you can sell it in your vendor and use friendly fire on allies. Plus I think the chainsaw looks cooler. My chainsaw does 72 damage with 11 fire damage.
