Dec 23, 2015 · Serial Number Lookup. I apologize if this info is on the forum. I did look there and the internet and can't find anything. I believe this is a Model 14 pinned 6" barrel and non recessed cylinders. The serial number appears to be: 6K91971. Help with some info would be appreciated before I buy this gun. If it is an undashed 686 check under the yoke for the letter "M". The first run of 686's had a problem with the hammer nose bushing. The ones modified by Smith (upgraded) were stamped with the M.
