Abstract. The Cretaceous rocks of Minnesota are flat-lying, loosely consolidated sediments of variable lithology. Two formations, both showing wide facies variation are recognized, the predominantly marine Coleraine Formation in northern Minnesota and the predominantly nonmarine Windrow Formation in southern Minnesota.
