Boss plow solenoid problems
3374 posts · Joined 2003. #2 · Nov 27, 2006. First make sure your harness plugs are tight and secure, Mine work loose and the solenoid just clicks. Then take a meter or a test light and see if current flows through solenoid. Could also just jump solenoid for a second to see if its bad.Disconnect your lift chain and any hoses connected to your motor. Locate your motor relay near the battery, where the positive lead from your battery attaches to a mechanism to divert power for your plow motor. Connect a jumper wire from the small terminal where the black wire is attached to your relay to the negative terminal of your battery.When transporting, position plow so as not to reduce visibility or block plow headlights. DO NOT change blade position when traveling. DO NOT exceed 40 mph when transporting plow. DO NOT exceed 14 mph when plowing. Always lower blade when vehicle is not in use. Make sure plow is properly attached before moving vehicle.

Peterson.There are little micro switches in the joystick to operate the solenoid.Try grounding the small wire at the solenoid for a moment,to see if it will activate the solenoid (careful,plow may move).If it moves,or the motor runs, then the problem is most likely the joystick or wiring to it.If it doesn't,then the solenoid is bad or incorrectly wired.

Go on the boss website and find the diagram for your hydraulic manifold model to determine which is the lift valve. You should also check to see if the coil over that valve is working properly. Motor wasn't near as expensive as I assumed it would be, Boss wants $250 for it, our auto electrical guy can get it cheaper.
