I have a 5R55E transmission that has been slipping out of first gear, almost into neutral it seems, and I have to remove my foot from the gas, and let it clunk back into gear, then it's fine. It only will do this when the transmission fluid is warm, only once, then drive with no symptoms.Help for Rebuild of 5R55E - No Overdrive. I'm very perplexed right now. My son and I just compelted a rebuild of a 5R55E tranny in a '99 EB explorer with the 4.0 SOHC engine. It's not my first rebuild of a transmission but it is the first time for a 5R55E.
