Open the hatch, get into the car and put the car in accessories mode or start the engine. You should see "tailgate open" message if the close switch is working.Home 2008 Honda Pilot Tailgate. The outside beeper is behind the bumper skin directly under the center latch. Solution found for manual stopped before the Tailgate hit the Garage ceiling rack. Hold the unlock button on the Tailgate until it beeps "TWICE", then open it manually and stop at any point without the motor pushing the Tailgate to open all the way to the top. Like.
