Oct 20, 2009 · Trane XE1000 defrost timer. Can anyone give me a tech narrative of how the defrost timer works in the XE1000. My old unit had a mechanical timer that ran below about freezing and worked very well for 22 years. It would defrost needed or not but most of the time it did. The XE1000 timer doesn't do it when not needed but the same when it is needed.I have TRANE XE1000 Heat Pump with a compressor not running, but OD fan runs, no cooling, heating is fine. While on cooling mode, manifold gauge reads 120psi on suction side and 98psi on high side. System is fully charged with R22. The model is TrANE TWR018C100A2. I have replaced the dual run capacitor, defrost control board.
