Table of Contents. Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS) is a type of automated system used to provide real-time weather information to pilots and air traffic controllers. The system is designed to measure and report various weather conditions, such as wind speed, visibility, cloud height, temperature, and precipitation, among others.Governments and international organisations coordinate their environmental observation strategies and investment through the worldwide Group on Earth Observations (GEO). GEO is working to build a Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS). EuroGEO is Europe’s part of the Group on Earth Observations (GEO).
