Just recently put a 9in auger drill on the 3 pt hitch to dig holes for a fence. Lift seems to operate fine when not in ground. As soon as auguer digs down 4-6 inches, the 3 pt hitch will not pull the drill out of the ground! It seems like my 3 pt hitch is extremely weak. Tractor only has 50 hours on it. Fluid levels are fine.I'm with oldnslo, sounds like a leak either in the cylinder or the valve. The jumping is the "position control" trying to maintain a certain height dependent on lever location. OP.Apr 6, 2022 · One of the items in the WSM troubleshooting table for hitch doesn't lift is Relief Valve spring broken. In the diagram below, taken from the WSM, you'll see 2 relief valves. The green one is in the priority/diverter valve body you've been obsessing over. The blue one is in the 3PH valve body somewhere.

It is tiny, difficult to turn and does not lock up where it should to lock the hitch position where it is wanted.Agreed only if you have a working pump, and functioning control and safety valves. No amount of clean oil or clean filters can help a " not pumping pump" to work. Defective valving and improperly set safety controls can not operate normally just due to clean oil either. All it does is control the bypass of fluid from the raising cylinders to the gearbox sump. If it's a cabin tractor, there will be an access plate next to the knob.
