We reduced the temperature of the oven back down to ~325F but the oven did not seem to respond properly to the decrease in temperature as the oven was extremely hot (almost like 500F hot). After doing some research, it was noted that this indicates a faulty temperature probe.

Which leads to you fixing the Bake element and then having the sensor fault. I'd replace the oven sensor. If the Bake element is glowing orange, then the element itself is physically fine.
