I walled it up and started growin' crops. I'm stashed and life is good. I had the elicopter event while I was close to Riverside's police station and I managed to survive it untouched. 40 days in and I'm starting to become lazy and less aware of the difficulty of the world.

Move out to the farmlands or one of the smaller communities and it will be far easier, IMO.This mod allows propane trucks, tanks and torches to be filled at any working gas pump. if you can 'Take fuel' you should be able to 'Take propane'. Also if you know how to get to Ekton (small rural town south of Riverside) there us a farming supplies store there with seeds for years.
