Less than a Fifth of the World's E-Waste is Recycled. In 2019, the world generated a staggering 53.6 million tons of e-waste. Yet only roughly 17 percent was collected and recycled through e-waste recycling programs — resulting in a loss of gold, silver, copper, platinum, and other high-value materials estimated at more than $57 billion dollars.The proposed system is tested on the trash image dataset which was developed by Gary Thung and Mindy Yang, and is able to achieve an accuracy of 87% on the dataset. The separation process of the waste will be faster and intelligent using the proposed waste material classification system without or reducing human involvement. © 2019 The Authors.
