While I haven't fought the Mantis yet, I hear that a poison build is pretty strong against that boss.Yep, usually what I do, run in w a widow dagger to get bleed, poison and venom proc, then depending on what I'm fighting, mantis salt, infected fresh, etc I swap to my weapon of that variant and swap back to dagger to proc when needed. poison/venom build easily. (fist build is pretty good for bosses.)

The widow got buffed so I thought I'd make a new built to obliterate her.So...Fresh Toenail Scimitar: best weapon for infected Broodmother and infected creatures. I wouldn't be waisting globs on a spider fang dagger, however the tier 3 dagger I would recommend salty or spicy because if you just go in the pond once and a while and farm tadpoles with it, you get can get so much food its insane. But for my dagger I went Mighty, since I use other weapon types for salt, spicy and etc. I also use the Club of the Mother Demon over the dagger, more poison damage and damage overall.
