Jayhawk Audubon is a National Audubon Society chapter serving Lawrence, Douglas County, and surrounding communities in eastern Kansas. Our mission is to provide opportunities for greater appreciation of birds and other wildlife, to encourage sustainability, and to advocate for intact ecosystems. Jayhawk Audubon has joined with National Audubon to promote the planting of native plants to benefit birds. With the help of local native plant experts, we have developed guidelines for creating a bird-friendly garden that will provide food, shelter, and nesting spots for resident and migratory birds.
