Place the red 2 1/2 inch square, right side down, on top of the jellyroll strip, near the top end of it.Align one with the upper right corner of a Color 3 6-1/2" square, as shown, then sew ON the marked line. Cut away the excess fabric. Press the seam towards the darker fabric. Do the same with the other Color 4 3-1/2" square on the opposite side of the Color 3 square. Make two of these... Sew together two Color 1+2 combos using a scant 1/4" seam ...Cut one Color 5 3-1/2" square... Now mark and cut the Color 1 and Color 5 3-7/8" x 7-3/4" strips into two 3-7/8" squares each. Stitch the wide end with a 1/4″ seam. TIP: set your stitch length to 1.5 - 2.0 to keep your seam secure. Chain piece the blades through your sewing machine. Trim the point of the blade at an angle near the fold to reduce bulk at the point.Then cut the Color 1 5-3/4" x 20-1/8" rectangle into 14 2-7/8" squares... To make the 28 half squares, stack one 2-7/8" print square atop a Color 1 square of the same size, right sides together. Mark the diagonal. Sew 1/4" away from the marked line on each side then cut on the marked line.
