The Kansas News Service is a collaboration of KCUR, Kansas Public Radio, KMUW and High Plains Public Radio focused on health, the social determinants of health and their connection to public policy.The Central Great Plains are a semiarid prairie ecoregion of the central United States, part of North American Great Plains. The region runs from west-central Texas through west-central Oklahoma, central Kansas, and south-central Nebraska . It is designated as the Central and Southern Mixed Grasslands ecoregion by the World Wide Fund for Nature .It is known for producing large quantities of wheat, which is typical of Great Plains states. Western Kansas is included in the High Plains, while central Kansas is included in the Plains Border subdivision. Nebraska. Like Kansas, Nebraska is entirely within the Great Plains. Also like Kansas, Nebraska is known for producing wheat and corn.
